El Royale offers three distinct spaces for private gatherings in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama — from an intimate garden dinner to a full restaurant buyout for 300. Whichever you choose, our dedicated event manager guides you from first walkthrough to the last toast, with in-house catering, full bar service, and a setting built for celebration.
Are there minimum requirements to be met?
Yes, there is a food and beverage minimum spend required based on what package you choose for your event. The fees for our spaces vary based on the day of the week. Taxes and fees are additional.
Can you explain the venue fee and gratuity? What do they cover?
All sales are subject to a 4% venue fee. The venue fee covers the planning services and support of our well informed and professional team to guide you along your planning. The venue fee covers all staffing, tables and chairs, service wares, along with setup and cleanup of these items.
Gratuities for the food service workers at your event have not been included in the contracted food and beverage minimum or otherwise included in the cost of your event. A 20% Gratuity will be automatically added to your final bill. Should you wish to increase your gratuity percentage, please contact your event manager at the time of the final invoice.
Where can my guests park?
Complimentary valet parking is available on site. We otherwise suggest the street parking available on all neighboring streets.
How do I book a date?
To confirm your event date, we will need a credit card number, a 50% deposit payment, and a signed contract.
What does the Event Manager do?
Our team at El Royale Cafe will provide guidance and planning assistance leading up to your event including:
Guided site visits with a member of our events team | Menu planning and guidance | Coordination of any outside vendors, arranging deliveries, and site visits | Consultation on individualized floor plan and layouts | Dedicated event manager on-site for your event from start to finish.
When can we get into the space?
Load in and load out time will be determined with the Event Manager prior to your event. For larger set ups and rentals additional time may result in additional venue fees.
Do you have a sound system, lighting, and audio visual?
Audiovisual capabilities include background music sound system, and wi-fi across the property. We have a number of recommended vendors who can assist with custom lighting design and additional audiovisual equipment as needed. If you decide to contract a DJ or band, they must provide their own insurance, sound equipment and staging.
Am I responsible for clean up?
The El Royale Cafe team will clean the space before and after your event. Personal belongings and décor must be removed the evening of your event. All outside vendors are required to load out within 1 hour of the event end time unless additional time is contracted in advance.
What is the cancellation policy?
If the event is canceled by the Client at least 14 days prior to the event date, all deposits will be fully refunded.
If the event is canceled by the Client 14 to 7 days prior to the event date, El Royale Cafe retains the right to charge a cancellation fee and will charge 50% of the contracted minimum food and beverage spend plus taxes and fees.
If the event is canceled by the Client within 7 days of the event date, El Royale Cafe will charge 100% of the contracted minimum food and beverage spend plus taxes and fees.
Collected deposits may not be applied to future events or charges at the property, its outlets, or any other venue operated by or affiliated with El Royale Cafe.
El Royale Cafe may terminate this Contract and cancel the event without any liability of any nature if the Client fails to comply with the terms of this Contract, including the delivery of deposits and observation of all rules and regulations.
Is smoking allowed?
No, El Royale Cafe is a non-smoking property including our outdoor spaces.
Is the building wheelchair accessible?
Yes, all spaces inside are wheelchair accessible. Some wheelchairs may have trouble navigating the gravel garden, but the covered outdoor patio is wheelchair accessible.
Are there restrictions on vendors I can use?
El Royale Cafe is the exclusive caterer of the space. The only exception for outside catering is a cake or other desserts for a celebration. Our event manager is happy to provide you with a list of our preferred vendors.
